PhD position - Privatizing of the Health Care Sector
One PhD position is available either for a period of three years with no teaching requirement, or for a period of four years with a 25 per cent teaching requirement at the Department of Health Management and Health Economics (HELED), Institute of Health and Society, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo.
The position is funded by the Research Council of Norway through the project " Privatizing of the Health Care Sector: Expansion of voluntary, private health insurance and private for-profit hospitals in the Nordic countries". The projects aims at describing, analyzing and discussing the normative aspects of the expansion of two policy reforms that are underway in the Nordic countries: a) an increase the use of private financing of welfare services via voluntary, private health insurance (VPHI) and b) the increasing use of private for-profit hospitals in provision of health care services either funded through VPHI, out-of-pocket payments or public budgets. The project is headed by HELED. Cooperating partners will be University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and University of Tampere, Finland.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Master degree or equivalent in economics, social sciences, health sciences, statistics or medicine with a strong record in quantitative analyses.
The basis for the assessment of the applicants will include the grades and the thesis from the master degree, possible other scientific production, and professional and academic experience. As part of the ranking of qualified applicants, the full scope of these qualifications will be assessed. As a main rule, interviews will be held and references collected.
