Position as PhD Research fellow
available at the Group for Logic and Intelligent Data (LogID), Dept. of Informatics, University of Oslo
If the successful candidate has a good knowledge of one Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish), the fellowship will be for a period of up to 4 years, with 25 % compulsory work (teaching responsibilities at Department of Informatics). Otherwise, the fellowship will be for a period of up to 3 years, with no compulsory work. Starting date no later than 01.10.2014
Job/ project description:The candidate's work will be within the space spanned by applied logic, mechanised reasoning, semantic technologies, and data integration.
The candidate will be affiliated with the research project "Logical and categorical methods in data transformation" http://folk.uio.no/jonf/ProjectSummary.pdf, funded by the Research Council of Norway,and work in close collaboration with the Optique EU project www.optique-project.eu http://www.optique-project.eu/
Requirements/qualifications:
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science. A sound basis from undergraduate studies in formal logic and/or semantic technologies is considered an advantage.
The purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.
The fellowship requires admission to the PhD programme at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The application to the PhD programme must be submitted to the department no later than two months after taking up the position. For more information see:

Salary: Position code 1017, Pay grade: 50 - 57 (NOK 429 700 – 482 800 per year)
