http://www.toshiba.eu/eu/Toshiba-Fellowship-Programme/ A Message from the Chief Technology OfficerNaoto NishidaChief Technology Officer Corporate Executive Vice President Toshiba Corporation "The Toshiba Fellowship Programme (TFP) offers a unique opportunity for qualified PhD level scientists to journey alongside Toshiba into innovation, discovering a new world of research and development, as well as exploring and living a new cultural experience in Japan.
We have been successfully operating the TFP since 1983. The programme grew out of conversations between Toshiba’s then President, Shoichi Saba, and Sir Hugh Cortazzi, then British Ambassador to Japan. Its founding aim was to build mutual understanding between the UK and Japan through direct co-operation in leading-edge research. Toshiba was the first private company to establish a Fellowship scheme in the UK and has enjoyed a strong and long-running collaboration with EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) since the TFP’s foundation.
Over 30 exceptional researchers have participated so far, launching their careers with valuable industry experience and innovative research.
Toshiba Fellows go on to enjoy globally diverse careers in academia, government and industry, building on the foundations of their research work at Toshiba’s excellent facilities. Toshiba Fellows bring diversity and creativity to our research-driven organisation and help to nurture cross-cultural understanding between the UK, Europe and Japan. We believe that every Toshiba Fellow has a real possibility to contribute to our future technologies and they continue to be highly valued members of our research community." | |
