Résumé	SLSP is the first event in a series to host and promote research on the wide spectrum of statistical methods that are currently in use in computational language or speech processing. It aims at attracting contributions from both fields. Though there exist large, well-known conferences including papers in any of these fields, SLSP is a more focused meeting where synergies between areas and people will hopefully happen. SLSP will reserve significant space for young scholars at the beginning of their careers.
