VLIR-UOS awards scholarships

to applicants from 54 eligible countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America
to attend one of the selected trainings or Master programmes
taught in English
at a Belgian Flemish university or university college
covering all related expenses

A call for scholarship applications is launched every year in October. The deadline depends on the training or Master programme you are applying for. More information on how to apply for a scholarship.

How do I apply for a scholarship?

To apply for a scholarship, you first need to apply for the training or Master programme.

To apply for a training or Master programme, visit the website of the training or Master programme of your interest. Follow the guidelines for application for the programme as mentioned on its website.

In the programme application, you can mention whether you wish to apply for a scholarship. In case you do, the programme coordinator forwards your application to VLIR-UOS.

Applications submitted by the candidates to VLIR-UOS directly will not be considered!

Take into account that you can only apply for one training or Master programme per year.

The dates of application are determined by the programme. Check the website of the training or Master programme for more details.

You will receive the selection result by e-mail, as soon as possible after selection and at the latest by mid-June.

In case of doubt, please contact the training or Master programme.

For which training or Master programmes can I get a scholarship?

Only the following English taught courses at Belgian Flemish universities or university colleges are eligible for scholarships:

Beurzen voor Zuidstudenten

Scholarships to study in Flanders, Belgium 2016 Beurzen_zuid_algemeen__klein__216x216

VLIR-UOS biedt beurzen aan studenten en professionals uit 54 landen in Azië, Afrika en Latijns-Amerika, voor opleidingen en onderzoek in Vlaanderen. Daarnaast kent VLIR-UOS ook doctoraatsbeurzen toe.

ICP- en ITP- training- en masterbeurzen in Vlaanderen

Studenten en professionals uit het Zuiden kunnen een beurs aanvragen voor een door VLIR-UOS erkende Engelstalige training (ITP) aan een Vlaamse universiteit of hogeschool of master (ICP) aan een Vlaamse universiteit. De beurzen zijn erop gericht de afgestudeerden verantwoordelijke posities te laten opnemen in hun land van oorsprong.

Geïnteresseerden kunnen jaarlijks vanaf oktober een aanvraag indienen bij de erkende opleidingen. De instelling screent de academische ontvankelijkheid. Nadien draagt de promotor van de opleiding de kandidaten voor toekenning van een beurs voor aan VLIR-UOS. Meer info op de pagina in het Engels.

KOI-beurzen voor korte opleidingen in Vlaanderen

Korte Opleidingsinitiatieven (KOI) zijn praktijkgerichte Engelstalige opleidingen van één of twee weken over een ontwikkelingsrelevant thema aan een Vlaamse universiteit of hogeschool. VLIR-UOS financiert beurzen voor deelnemers uit het Zuiden. De opleidingsverantwoordelijken rekruteren en selecteren zelf geïnteresseerde kandidaten.

ICP PhD

ICP PhD voorziet doctoraatsbeurzen voor personen uit het Zuiden die een door VLIR-UOS erkende masteropleiding (ICP) hebben gevold. Het doctoraat moet focussen op een ontwikkelingsrelevant thema. Het onderzoek vindt zowel plaats in het thuisland als in Vlaanderen.

Beurzen binnen samenwerkingsprojecten

Binnen bepaalde samenwerkingsprojecten, zoals Institutionele Universitaire Samenwerking (IUS) en TEAM, bestaat ook een mogelijkheid om beurzen toe te kennen aan betrokkenen uit het Zuiden, zowel voor trainings, masters als PhD's. Meer info in het Engels.

Programme de Bourses d’Etudes et de Stages Internationauxorganisé par le Vlaamse Inteuniversitaite Raad (VLIR) Belgeau titre de l’année universitaire 2016-2017

La Direction Générale de la Coopération Internationale au Ministère del’Enseignement Supérieur informe que les autorités belges souhaiteraient la participation au Programme de bourses d’études et

de stages internationaux organisé par le Vlaamse Interuniversitaite Raad (VLIR) dans la Région Flamande Belge au titre de l’année universitaire 2016-2017.

Ce programme prévoit l’octroi de bourses d’études en Master et de stages aux étudiants des pays en développement, titulaires d’une maîtrise et âgés de moins de 35 ans pour les cours et moins de 40 ans pour les stages.

Les thèmes des études et des stages portent sur des domaines variés comme la biostatistique, les ressources physiques de la terre, l’aquaculture, l’environnement, le développement rural, la nématologie, les technologies alimentaires, l’écologie, la biologie moléculaire, l’écologie marine, les

technologies hydrauliques, le développement, l’évaluation et le management, la globalisation, la gouvernance et le développement.
