| | Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program for International Students from Developing Countries 2016 | |
The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJWBGSP) will begin taking applications February 10, 2016. The program is open to women and men from developing countries with professional experience and a history of supporting their countries’ development efforts.
Applicant Must:
- Be citizen of a World Bank member country eligible to borrow;
- Not hold dual citizenship of a developed country;
- Be under the age of 45 on the Application Deadline date;
- Hold a Bachelor (or equivalent) degree earned at least 3 years prior to application deadline;
- Have 3 years or more of recent development-related work experience after earning a Bachelor (or equivalent) degree;
- Not be a staff member (which includes consultants) or relative of a staff member of the World Bank Group;
- Be in good health;
- Be accepted unconditionally to enroll in the upcoming academic year in one of JJWBGSP preferred master programs;
- Submit a completed JJWBGSP application by the Application Deadline date

Award: Recipients will receive a full scholarship in development studies to one of the program’s preferred masters programs (see draft list at www.worldbank.org/scholarships). The final list will be posted when the call for applications opens. Scholarship includes full tuition and fees, a monthly living stipend, round-trip air tickets and travel allowance. Upon completion of the program, JJ/WBGSP scholars must immediately return to their home countries to apply their new skills to their countries’ social and economic development.
Application Process: The application guidelines, online application, and other relevant information will be available here during the call. The application will only be available online from February 10 to March 10, 2016. Completed applications, including the application form and two professional references, must be submitted online before March 10,2016 Application Deadline.
Established in 1987 with funding from the Government of Japan, the World Bank Joint Japan Graduate Scholarship Program has helped create an international community of highly trained professionals working in economic and social development through financing of graduate and post-graduate studies. The World Bank administers the Scholarship Programs through the Learning Leadership and Innovation (LLI). Policy guidance for the Program is provided by a Steering Committee comprised of three Executive Directors and five managers of the Bank. A secretariat for day-to-day administration is maintained within LLI. |
