Bioprosp is one of Europe's top conferences in marine bioprospecting.
BIOPROSP_15 Conference objectivesBIOPROSP_15 will focus on the possibilities and challenges in industrial development of novel marine bioactive compounds and biomass. Oceans cover 71% of the planet's surface and offer human necessities such as food and energy. More than 90% of the marine biodiversity remains unexplored. This offers a huge potential for applications in a wide range of products such as drugs, ingredients, supplements, bioprocessing, energy, green chemicals and biomaterials. The economical outcome of R&D in marine biotechnology is expected to generate a 10 % annual growth, as assessed by
Blue Growth H2020.
BIOPROSP_15 will address how to translate basic research into applied research on possible industrial applications – overcoming the bottlenecks.
Target group / who should attendStakeholders in biotech (life science) and pharmaceutical industry, scientists, public support system, decision-makers and others interested in marine bioprospecting and biotechnology.BIOPROSP International Conference on Marine Bioprospecting is a biennial conference on bioprospecting from cold marine environment that is held in the university town of Tromsø in Northern Norway. Conference has been organized since 2002 and it has already established itself as one of best conferences in the field of marine bioprospecting.
BIOPROSP Conference aims at bringing together scientists and industry representatives and addressing issues of how to translate basic research into applied research on possible industrial applications. Join leading speakers from science and industry for an updated grasp on what's new and what's next.
The 7
th BIOPROSP Conference will take place at Clarion Hotel The Edge in Tromsø, Norway, February 18
th - 20
nd 2015.
BIOPROSP is initiated by the MABIT programme, and is made possible with cooperation with Universities, R&D institutions and businesses (see below who these people are). The members of the different committees contributes with tremendous amount of work into planning and organization of this conference.
The organizers have an ambition to develop BIOPROSP to become one of the leading conferences for everyone interested in R&D and industrial applications within the field of marine bioprospecting. The marine environment and the Arctic Ocean have been described as the last untapped resource with the prospects of discovering new and unique drugs and bioactive molecules. BIOPROSP_15 is proud to offer the delegates an exciting program with outstanding speakers from the USA, Belgium, Australia, UK, Germany, and Norway. Through the presentations the audience will be exposed to the most recent scientific results.
