A tuition fee waiver means that no money is paid out to the student but the tuition fee will be waived for the total length of the programme which is either 1 year/60 ECTS or 2 years/120 ECTS. As the tuition fee waiver only covers the tuition fee, living costs will need to be covered by the student.
Who is eligible to apply?
Citizens from
non-EU/EEA/EFTA countries who are required to pay tuition fees and who has applied for a
Master's programme at KTH as first priority.
Please note this scholarship is not available for applicants to Erasmus-Mundus and EIT Master's programmes.
How to apply
Before you submit an online application to the KTH Tuition fee waiver you must first submit an application to a KTH Master’s programme at universityadmissions.se. It is important that you follow the instructions and submit all the necessary documents as incomplete Master’s applications will not be assessed, for more information please see Application and deadlines. No further documents are required than those submitted as part of your Master's programme application.
Please note that only applications for a KTH Master's programme that has been submitted within the deadline will be considered in the selection process for a KTH Tuition fee waiver. For information regarding key dates and deadlines please see Application and deadlines.

December 1, 2014: Online application to KTH Tuition fee waiver opens.
January 15, 2015: The application for the KTH Tuition fee waiver closes.
Selection process
The selection process will be undertaken in parallel with the selection process for admission to the programme. The tuition fee waiver will primarily be granted on the basis of academic excellence.
Only applicants who fulfill the eligibility requirements of the programme applied for will be considered for a tuition fee waiver. Students with a conditional eligibility are eligible to apply for a tuition fee waiver.
Selection criteriaThe selection process for the KTH Tuition fee waiver is, as stated above, undertaken in parallel with the selection process for admission to the programme. Only applicants that fulfill the eligibility requirements of the programme and has been recommended for a KTH Tuition fee waiver by the Director of the applied Master's programme will be further processed in the selection process for the KTH Tuition fee waivers.
After the applicants has been assessed in accordance to the individual programme's selection process an over all assessment of all recommended applicants for the KTH Tuition fee waivers will be made based on the following criteria:
- The applicants grades (GPA or equivalent)
- The University where the applicants Bachelor's degree was awarded
- The selection process and the recommendation of the Director of the applied Master's programme
If same merits, applicants from KTH's focus regions take precedence. KTH's focus regions are Brazil, China, India and Southeast Asia. More information on KTH's focus regions is found here.
A limited number of tuition fee waivers will also be available for the following group of students:
- Students currently attending the first year of a Master’s programme at KTH and who will be starting their second year of studies in the autumn 2015
- Students attending a joint Master’s programme coming to KTH for a limited period as part of their studies
