2015 Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme: Now Launched!The Irish Research Council has opened the 2015 call for the Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme. The Terms and Conditions for the scheme are available for download at the bottom of this page.
UPDATE 1 (15/10/2014): The online application system is now OPEN! Technical queries may be emailed directly to postdoc@research.ie. All other queries should be addressed to the Research Office in your proposed institution (see below for further information). UPDATE 2 (15/10/2014): An FAQs document has been uploaded below and will be updated regularly.Please note Significant Change re. Graduation or Viva/Thesis Defence Dates:The updated requirement is that an applicant must have either graduated or have been certified as having fulfilled all the requirements for the award of a doctoral degree, including a viva/thesis defence, within the five-year period between 28th February 2010 and 28th February 2015.
Thinking about applying?In the first instance, all queries should be directed to the Research Office (i.e. the office of the Vice-President/Dean of Research/Head of Development as applicable) in your proposed institution. The Research Office will be able to provide information and clarification on the call.
Queries not addressed in the Terms and Conditions or Guide for Applicants will be addressed using an online Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) system. Research Offices may send any queries they are unable to clarify to postdoc@research.ie with the subject ‘GOI Postdoc 2015 FAQ’. A set of FAQs will then be posted on this webpage below.
For reasons of transparency and fairness, the Council will not enter into individual written or telephone correspondence. All queries must be submitted through the FAQ process. In particular, the secretariat will not enter into one-to-one discussion or correspondence with individual applicants, either before or after the call deadline. Please do not telephone the office about the application process.
Description of Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship SchemeThe Council funds excellent researchers across all disciplines and encourages interdisciplinary research and engagement with enterprise. The Council facilitates the career development of researchers by funding those at an early stage of their research career to associate with established research teams who have achieved international recognition for their work. The Council aims to support an expertise-driven research system in order to enhance Ireland’s innovation capacity and skills base in a rapidly changing global environment where knowledge is key to economic, social and cultural development. The Council is further committed to facilitating the integration of Irish researchers in all disciplines within the European Research Area.
This scheme is intended to support suitably qualified applicants at an early stage of their postdoctoral career to associate with established research teams who have achieved international recognition for their work. These Fellowships can be held for either one or two years as outlined in table below.

Application processApplications (including Academic Mentor and Referee Forms) will only be accepted through the online submission system. The online application system will open early next week. The system can be accessed through the menu tab 'Online Award Application' above or by clicking here.

Please also ensure that your JavaScript is both turned on and up to date. Finally, given the different sizes of computer screens, if you are having trouble seeing the Submit button, please minimize and then maximize your screen to resolve the issue.
