Humanity in Action is now accepting applications for the 2015 Diplomacy and Diversity Fellowship, a graduate-level fellowship program to explore the changing international dynamics of diplomacy and diversity. The 2015 program will take place in Washington, DC, Paris and Berlin from May 29 to June 28, 2015. This transatlantic program brings together 24 American and European graduate students to study international relations and global diversity in a collaborative setting. Applications for the program are due October 30, 2014.
Study Subject(s): Fellowships are awarded to explore the changing international dynamics of diplomacy and diversity. In the 2015 Diplomacy and Diversity Fellowship, participants will discuss and research a wide range of subjects. These are-Democracy from domestic and international perspectives, The influence of non-state actors-including businesses, non-profits and interest groups-in foreign affairs, The impact of technology in foreign policy, National security, conflict and reconciliation, The European Union’s diplomatic agenda and Immigration and refugees.
Course Level: It is a four-week graduate fellowship program.
Scholarship Provider: Humanity in Action
Scholarship can be taken at:
Washington DC (USA), Paris (France) and Berlin (Germany)
Eligibility: Each prospective applicant must meet all eligibility criteria associated with his/her country.
United States:
-Applicants must reside in, currently study in or hold citizenship of the United States.
-Applicants must be students enrolled in graduate or advanced professional programs (master’s, doctorate, MD, JD, MBA, etc.) at the time of the application deadline.
Europe:
-Applicants must reside in, currently study in or hold citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey or Ukraine.
-Applicants must be currently enrolled students or recent graduates meeting one of the following criteria:
-Students enrolled in graduate or advanced professional programs (master’s, doctorate, LLM, MBA, etc.) at the time of the application deadline;
-Professionals who graduated from such programs in 2012, 2013 or 2014 are also eligible to apply.
All applicants should be pursuing a career in a field such as diplomacy, security, international relations, development, public health, trade and economics, climate and environmental policy, media or non-profit management. Applicants should possess relevant work experience. All participants must be fluent in English. Applicants from non-traditional international affairs academic disciplines–such as business, law, health and environmental sciences–as well as service members and veterans are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants of minority backgrounds are also strongly encouraged to apply.
Scholarship Open for International Students: Citizens of United States, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey and Ukraine can apply for this Diplomacy and Diversity fellowship.
 Scholarship Description: Humanity in Action Diplomacy and Diversity Fellowship Program, 2015 Humanity-in-ActionThe Diplomacy and Diversity Fellowship for graduates is designed to develop leadership skills and knowledge among graduate students aspiring to careers in foreign policy. Over four weeks, 24 American and European graduate students meet with leaders in government, business and academia. The Fellows are required to build upon these far-reaching policy discussions by producing research and writing articles. Through this program, Humanity in Action seeks to promote constructive diplomacy in a changing world through innovative and inclusive approaches to national and international issues.
 Number of award(s): This transatlantic program brings together 24 American and European graduate students to study international relations and global diversity in a collaborative setting.
Duration of award(s): The 2015 Diplomacy and Diversity Fellowship will take place for four weeks from May 29 to June 28, 2015.
 What does it cover? Humanity in Action covers most costs of the program including accommodations, flights, local transportation and some food. Humanity in Action covers the cost of many meals when taken together as a group. Fellows also plan to bring spending money for their own dinner each night as well as some lunches.
Selection Criteria: Successful applicants for the Diplomacy and Diversity Fellowship will possess the following traits:
-Intellectual curiosity: Humanity in Action seeks candidates who are eager to discuss a wide range of international issues outside of their own specific field of study.
-Collaborative spirit: Humanity in Action seeks candidates who thrive in collaborative settings and enjoy discussing challenging issues in culturally and internationally diverse groups.
-Commitment: Humanity in Action seeks candidates who are committed to the organization’s principles and work ethic. Humanity in Action seeks candidates who are willing to devote considerable time and effort to furthering the objectives of Humanity in Action after the completion of the program.
-Open-mindedness: Humanity in Action seeks candidates who are open to challenging their personal convictions. The Diplomacy and Diversity Fellowship is not a program that serves to confirm assumptions or already held beliefs. Instead, the program seeks to broaden and stretch the Fellows’ understanding of complex international issues and expand their worldview.
Notification: Successful candidates will be notified by email on 30 January, 2015.
How to Apply: Students must submit the application online. Incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline will not be considered. All application materials must be submitted in English. (Transcripts may be submitted in other languages; translations are not necessary.) 
 Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is 30 October, 2014.
