A Chemist's Guide to Chemical Engineering
 Dates     14 Oct 2014 → 17 Oct 2014
[ID=629707] Haut de la page
 Lieu    Barcelona, Espagne
 Résumé     Most chemical engineering courses aimed at chemists are actually developed and presented by chemical engineers. As a result they tend to be mathematically based and unsuitable or uninteresting for R&D chemists. This course is different; it has been developed and is presented by a chemist, for chemists. It does not dwell on the derivation of a mathematical formula or equations. Instead, it focuses on what chemists need to know about the information and data that engineers require for design and scale-up.

7.Secrets of Batch Process Scale-Up
 Dates     21 Oct 2014 → 23 Oct 2014
[ID=629706] Haut de la page
 Lieu    Nice, France
 Résumé     This course presents an overview of scale-up issues and examines their impact on process operation in the pilot plant and beyond, including scale-up considerations for route selection, raw material charging, reaction steps, workup, crystallization, product isolation, drying, etc. Common bench techniques for each of these steps are contrasted to the safety and operability criteria for successful pilot plant operation. Numerous examples and case histories are presented, along with tips and techniques for operators and experimenters. Heavy emphasis is placed on process safety.

9.Polyolefin Additives 2014
 Dates     23 Oct 2014 → 30 Oct 2014
[ID=650012] Haut de la page
 Lieu    Cologne, Allemagne
 Résumé     Polyolefin Additives 2014 is focused on the performance of key polyolefin materials, particularly polyethylene and polypropylene, looking at new ways of compounding and new resins, and their application in a wide range of industries from packaging to automotive. The property requirements vary depending on the use, for example an agricultural film wants a high level of anti-UV additives, while a food contact plastic will need to be safe with low levels of migrating ingredients, and a construction application will require flame retardants, heat- and UV-stabilisation. At the same time the material must be cost-effective and easy to process. The resin selection can improve performance too and there are advances in this area.

 Dates     27 Oct 2014 → 29 Oct 2014
[ID=629704] Haut de la page
 Lieu    Boston, Massachusetts, États-Unis
 Résumé     This course focuses on practical approaches to accelerated QbD implementation, and it makes practical recommendations for realistic implementation of QbD elements. Participants will learn how to prioritize process parameters for screening designs, how to design robust processes using statistical design of experiments (DoE), how to bridge the bench and the commercial design spaces using mixing and scale-up calculations, how to quantify process risk, how to select suitable process analytical technology tools (PAT) and more. For the benefit of process scientists, engineers, formulators, analytical chemists and manufacturing personnel, this course includes highly interactive, hands-on workshops, based on several case studies. Effective technology transfer to pilot and manufacturing plants is also discussed, including process validation in the QbD paradigm.

 Dates     28 Oct 2014 → 29 Oct 2014
[ID=629747] Haut de la page
 Lieu    Budapest, Hongrie
 Résumé     The course is spread over two days during which there will be a mixture of lectures, problem sessions and case studies. The intent is to achieve improved understanding of reaction mechanisms and their relevance for predicting selectivity (regiochemical and stereochemical) to enable better evaluation of chemistry on paper prior to the costly exercise of undertaking laboratory work. The lectures will cover some classical chemistry as well as more complex contemporary chemistry, such as transition metal catalysed processes and organocatalysis. The problem sessions are then used to help confirm understanding and explore different reaction pathways and chemical outcomes, which in turn can be used to guide reaction quench and work-up designs.

 Résumé     The aim of the course is to give lab chemists an understanding of the issues that need to be considered during the early stages of scale up to large laboratory scale equipment (10-20 litre vessels) / kilo lab. The course will concentrate on chemical safety and selectivity issues and include information on what safety testing equipment is available and the uses and limitations of this equipment. Attendees will learn how to identify potential problems whether they be thermal hazards or selectivity issues. Methods used by other companies for handling hazardous reagents and reactions will be described as well as alternative chemistry to circumvent these reactions and/or reagents.

Dates 27 Oct 2015 → 30 Oct 2015
[ID=651634] Haut de la page
Lieu Fürstenfeldbruck, Allemagne
Résumé 56 six years ago the first European Symposium on Chemical Reaction Engineering (ESCRE) was held in Amsterdam. After four symposia this conference series turned into the international symposium ISCRE, from early 70s on biannually, alternating between Europe and America. Since our Asian friends have joined this symposium series a decade ago, every six year Europe will be hosting an ISCRE event, the next one in 2018. So we decided to start a renewal of ESCRE in 2015 in Germany. The Annual Meeting of the ProcessNet Subject Division Reaction Engineering will be held during this event. Germany is an ideal choice for this meeting due to its diversified and very strong community in CRE. The interaction between academia and industry is traditionally strong. The theme of the conference, "CRE providing tomorrow's solutions" emphasizes the necessity of CRE to meet the future challenges, particularly in energy sciences and technology. Topics: Reaction Engineering Fundamentals, Multiphase Systems, Catalytic Engineering, Micro Reaction Engineering, Polymer Reaction Engineering, Reaction Engineering of Fossil FuelsPhoto- and Electrochemical Engineering, Reactor Engineering, CO2 Utilization, Biomass Conversion, Industrial Frontiers.
