The University of Helsinki invites applications for

DOCTORAL STUDENT POSITIONS

in the Doctoral Programme in Food Chain and Health for a 1–4 year period starting from 1.1.2015.

The Doctoral Programme in Food Chain and Health is one of the doctoral programmes in the Doctoral School of Environmental, Food and Biological Sciences. Its scientific research and education focus is in food sciences, covering food science research for the whole food chain. The multidisciplinary doctoral programme allows for the examination of food from several complementary perspectives, as well as co-operation with the whole food sector.

The doctoral programme has attracted researchers and PhD students from the Department of Food Hygiene and Environmental Health, the Department of Veterinary Biosciences and the Department of Production Animal Medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, from the Department of Food and Environmental Sciences and the Department of Economics and Management at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry and from the Institute of Biotechnology. The doctoral programme has close co-operation with the Swedish LiFT Graduate School and the Dutch VLAG Graduate School.

The duties of a doctoral student are to work on his or her own doctoral thesis and to complete his or her postgraduate studies. The duties also include teaching and other tasks.

A doctoral student applicant must hold a second-cycle degree and have an approved research proposal. Other requirements include the ability and motivation, as demonstrated through previous degree studies or otherwise, to pursue postgraduate studies and a doctoral degree according to the study plan and research proposal. The appointee must have the right to pursue a doctoral degree at the University of Helsinki by the start of the appointment.

The University of Helsinki offers a salary dependent on qualifications and work experience. The salary is based on levels 2–4 of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee shall be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. The salary is EUR 2022–2970 per month, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and work experience. The appointment starts with a probationary period of four months.

Le programme de doctorat en chaîne alimentaire et de la santé est l'un des programmes de doctorat de l'École doctorale de l'environnement, de l'Alimentation et des sciences biologiques. Ses travaux de recherche et d'éducation orientation scientifique est en sciences alimentaires, couvrant la recherche en sciences de la nourriture pour toute la chaîne alimentaire. Le programme de doctorat multidisciplinaire permet l'examen de la nourriture à partir de plusieurs points de vue complémentaires, ainsi que la coopération avec le secteur alimentaire tout.

Le programme de doctorat a attiré des chercheurs et doctorants du département de l'hygiène alimentaire et de la santé de l'environnement, le ministère des biosciences vétérinaires et le ministère de la Production médecine des animaux à la Faculté de médecine vétérinaire, du ministère de l'Alimentation et des sciences de l'environnement et le ministère de Economie et Gestion à la Faculté de l'Agriculture et des Forêts et de l'Institut de biotechnologie. Le programme de doctorat a une coopération étroite avec l'ascenseur suédois Graduate School et l'École supérieure VLAG néerlandais.

Les fonctions d'un étudiant au doctorat sont à travailler sur sa propre thèse de doctorat et de terminer ses études de troisième cycle. Les fonctions comprennent également l'enseignement et d'autres tâches.

Un demandeur de doctorant doit être titulaire d'un diplôme du deuxième cycle et avoir un projet de recherche approuvé.
