TWAS-USM Fellowships for Visiting Researchers in Malaysia, 2015

Programme Details

• TWAS-USM Visiting Researchers Fellowships in natural sciences are tenable for a minimum period of one month to a maximum of three months at a school/department of the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). • USM will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs, such as accommodation and food. The monthly stipend will not be convertible into foreign currency.
  
• The language of instruction is English.
  

 
Eligibility
 
Applicants for these Fellowships must meet the following criteria:

• Be a maximum age of 55 years on 31 December of the application year.
  
• Be nationals of a developing country (other than Malaysia).
  
• Must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in Malaysia or any developed country.
  
• Hold a PhD degree in a field of the natural sciences and a regular research assignment with at least five years of postdoctoral research experience.
  
• Provide an official Preliminary Acceptance Letter from the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS), USM to TWAS. Requests for preliminary acceptance letters must be directed to the Dean, Institute of Postgraduate Studies, USM who will facilitate assignment of a host supervisor.  In contacting the Dean applicants must accompany their request for a Preliminary Acceptance Letter with copy of their latest CV, certified true copy of Bachelor, Master and Ph.D degree certificates, referee letters and a summary proposal, via email to Prof. Othman Sulaiman: twasusm.pdvr@gmail.com; othman@usm.my.
  
• Provide evidence of proficiency in English.
  
• Be financially responsible for any accompanying family member.
  

 
Submitting your application

• The deadline for receipt of applications to TWAS is 15 September of each year.
  
• Applicants must submit the preliminary acceptance letter from the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS), USM when applying to TWAS or by the deadline at the latest. Therefore, please apply for the Preliminary Acceptance Letter to the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS), USM well before 15 September. Without preliminary acceptance letter, the application will not be considered for selection.
  
• Reference letters: Referees must send signed letters as attachments via e-mail directly to TWAS and USM The subject line must contain: USM/VS/ candidate's surname. Alternatively, letters should be sent by post in sealed envelopes. Only signed reference letters can be accepted.
  
• Applicants to the TWAS-USM Visiting Scholar Fellowship Programme should send their application to TWAS and USM (by email).

• USM fournira une allocation mensuelle standard qui doit être utilisée pour couvrir les coûts de la vie, tels que l'hébergement et la nourriture.

Admissibilité
Les candidats à ces bourses doivent répondre les suivants critères :

• Soyez un âge maximum de 55 ans le 31 Décembre l' années d 'application.
  
• Être ressortissants d'un pays en développement (autre que la Malaisie).
  
• Doit pas détenir un visa de résidence temporaire ou permanente de Malaisie ou de ne importe quel pays développé.
  
• Tenir un doctorat en un domaine des sciences naturelles et cinq ans de recherche postdoctorale.
  
• Fournir une Lettre d'acceptation de l'Institut d'études supérieures (IPS), l'USM à TWAS. Les demandes de lettres d'acceptation préliminaires doivent être adressées au doyen, Institut d'études de troisième cycle. En communiquant,  les demandeurs doivent accompagner leur demande  de la lettre d'acceptation  préliminaire avec une copie de leur dernier CV, copie certifiée conforme de licence, certificats de maîtrise et de diplôme de doctorat, lettres de référence et une proposition de synthèse, par courriel au Professeur Othman Sulaiman:twasusm.pdvr@gmail.com ; othman@usm.my .
