The Program

Emory College, Oxford College, and the Goizueta Business School offer merit-based scholarships to incoming first-year students through the Emory University Scholars Program. This highly selective program not only recognizes and provides financial awards to exceptional students with a history of academic excellence and outstanding extracurricular engagement, but also challenges those students to utilize their talents to impact the Emory community, Atlanta, and the world. Selection into the Emory University Scholars Program comes with the expectation that each Scholar will invest energy in active engagement with the community of Scholars and use the resources and support provided by the Program to shape the future of the University.
Emory University Scholars are "intellectually carbonated" individuals, leaders among their peers, and "spark plugs" in their communities. They are forward-thinkers who stretch the boundaries of intellectual inquiry, artists with distinctive talents and creativity and difference-makers that act as catalysts for positive change. Emory University actively seeks these budding visionaries to infuse energy into the Emory, Oxford, and Goizueta communities as they pursue their passions. The Emory University Scholars Program is committed to building a holistic community of Scholars and is uniquely designed to enrich each student’s personal academic experience while intentionally impacting community at Emory and beyond.

The Process – Application Deadline: November 15

To be considered for the Emory University Scholars Program (including the Woodruff, Oxford, and Goizueta Scholarships), students must select one of Emory's three admission decision plans (Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision). Students must submit all required application materials by the November 15 Emory University Scholars Program deadline—if your selected admission plan is ED II or RD. Students applying ED I may apply for the Scholars program, but need to meet the November 1 deadline for all materials. Full instructions can be found via the "Questions" section of the Emory University supplemental "My College" page on the Common Application.
Please note for the 2014-2015 application cycle, applicants no longer need to be nominated by a high school guidance / college counselor to be considered for the Emory University Scholars Program, and no additional nomination forms are required. Students can nominate themselves via their Common Application.

Selection

The selection for merit-based scholarships is administered by the Emory University Office of Undergraduate Admission in conjunction with Emory College, Oxford College, and the Goizueta Business School. The scholarship selection process remains separate from the financial aid application process and will have no impact on a student’s need-based financial aid award.
Scholar applicants will receive notification of their standing in the selection process by the end of January. If selected as a finalist, students will be required to attend the finalist interview weekend in February / March (2014 dates to be determined). The scholar weekend activities are designed to help finalists become better acquainted with programs and opportunities available to them and to aid the Scholars Selection Committee in making its final choices for the various awards. To be considered for a finalist award, attendance at the Scholars interview weekend is mandatory.
