Inverse Moment Problems: The Crossroads of Analysis, Algebra, Discrete Geometry and Combinatorics

Résumé	Applications of moments of measures in polynomial optimization led to a number of breakthroughs in optimization and real algebraic geometry, as well as to better understanding of ways to encode measures. Other similar threads are recently seen in the theory of integration on polytopes and counting of integer points in polytopes, as well as in quantum computing. The aim of the program is to futher investigate relations between these topics and inverse moment problems, i.e., questions of reconstructing measures from a set of its moments, which are traditionally attacked by purely analytic tools. Activities will include two 4-5 day research conferences, one quantum computing workshop, and one graduate student winter school/workshops.

Résumé	To hold an international conference on nonlinear analysis and convex analysis jointly is very important for development of mathematical science and its related area all over the world. During the last three decades, the study of Nonlinear Analysis has been devoted vigorously and such activity had great influence on other areas of science as much as mathematics. At the same time, Convex Analysis has grown in connection with the study of problems of optimization, equilibrium, control, and stability of linear and nonlinear systems. These two mathematical disciplines have no border and they rather have good effects each other. Based on this idea, we had the following meetings of the International Conference on Nonlinear Analysis and Convex Analysis (NACA): Niigata (1998), Hirosaki (2001), Tokyo (2003), Okinawa (2005), Hsinchu (2007), Tokyo (2009), Busan (2011), Hirosaki (2013) and this time, it reaches the ninth meeting in Chiang Rai, Thailand on January 21-25, 2015.

Résumé	The term `moduli space' has its origins in the classification of conformal structures on two-dimensional surfaces. Closed surfaces are classified topologically by their genus, but for fixed genus, the set of inequivalent conformal structures is essentially a smooth finite- dimensional manifold, a first example of a moduli space. In more recent times, many other instances of mathematical structures of this type have come to light, above all in gauge theory. They continue to have, a major impact in modern geometry, topology and mathematical physics.
