Project title: Synthesis and Biologic Activities of New Garlic Metabolites
A PhD position for a synthetic organic / bioorganic chemist is available in the Wirth Research Group. The research is concerned with the synthesis of garlic metabolites and the development of synthetic routes to novel, structurally similar compounds using flow chemistry and screening for their biologic activities. Highly motivated candidates enjoying research in an international team and with a very good background in experimental organic and bioorganic synthesis are encouraged to apply for this position involving collaboration with industry.

Funding
This studentship is provided through ESPRC and industry funding, and consists of full UK/EU tuition fees, as well as a Doctoral Stipend matching UK Research Council National Minimum (£13,863 p.a. for 2014/15, updated each year).
Eligibility
Residency: Full awards (fees plus maintenance stipend) are open to UK Nationals and EU students without further restrictions.
Academic criteria: Successful applicant will be selected on the basis of academic excellence. Minimum 2(i) degree required.
