Australian Veterans' Children's Assistance Trust Scholarships
The Australian Veterans' Children Assistance Trust (AVCAT) aims to help the children and grandchildren of ex-servicemen and women to a better future through higher education. Through the help of our generous donors, AVCAT administers scholarships to the children of those who have served our country in peace and war in the Australian Army, Navy and Airforce. Our recipients come from all over Australia and study an enormous variety of courses.
Value and duration
Scholarships are generally paid for three years and are between $3,000 and $4,000 per year.
Who is eligible?
To apply you must be:
- The child or grandchild of a person who has operational service with the Australian Navy, Army or Air Force, or if not has three or more years' continuous full-time service as a member of the Australian Defence Force.
- Under the age of 25 when applying, unless exceptional circumstances related to veteran's service exist.
- Eligible to receive Youth Allowance benefits for full- time education.
- Enrolled, or planning to enrol in a full-time course of tertiary education in Australia. The course must be of one or more academic years' in length and at undergraduate level.

Selection process
Scholarship selection is based on need and merit. Applicants can be high-school leavers starting university or current university students and eligible for Youth Allowance hence studying full time.
