10th Hakuho Foundation Japanese Research Fellowship

What is the Hakuho Foundation Japanese Research Fellowship?
With the goals of further strengthening the fundamentals of international research into Japan and deepening international understanding of Japan through researchers’ activities, the Hakuho Foundation Japanese Research Fellowship invites leading international researchers of the Japanese language, Japanese language education, Japanese literature and Japanese culture to Japan to conduct residential research.

Japanese language and Japanese language education research Japanese literature and Japanese culture research
Eligible researchers
International researchers working in the fields of Japanese language, Japanese language education, Japanese literature or Japanese culture. University professors, associate professors and assistant professors who have outstanding and research results that have future potential, and other persons with equivalent research backgrounds, are eligible to apply.
Applicants must:
Have sufficient Japanese language proficiency to be able to conduct research and interact in Japanese Be non-Japanese nationals residing outside of Japan
(Researchers with Japanese nationality who have resided outside Japan for 10 years or more and are active in the academic community, etc., of their current country of residence will also be considered) Be able to stay in Japan continuously for the duration of the Fellowship period
Those who have previously received support from another institution for residential research in Japan may also apply.
Fellowship content
Airfares, living and research expenses, housing subsidy and other expenses necessary for conducting research in Japan Long-term (12-month) and short-term (6-month) fellowships are available Around 10–15 fellows will be invited each year
Receiving organizations
Invited fellows will conduct their research with the cooperation of one of the following receiving organizations: International Research Center for Japanese Studies Kyoto University National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics Ochanomizu University Ritsumeikan University Tokyo University of Foreign Studies Waseda University

3. Have the person recommending you for this Program fill in the Letter of Recommendation
   
4. Prepare Japanese translation of the Letter of Recommendation (if written in a language other than Japanese)
   
5. Send the above documents to the designated address by mail

国際日本研究フェローシップとは
この事業は、海外で日本語・日本語教育・日本文学・日本文化に関する研究を行っているすぐれた研究者を日本へ招聘し、滞在型研究の場を提供することで、世界における日本研究の基盤をより充実させ、研究者の活動を通じて、日本への理解を深めることを目的としています。

下記のいずれかの受入機関の協力を得て、研究を行います。 国立国語研究所 国際日本文化研究センター お茶の水女子大学 京都大学 東京外国語大学 立命館大学（第10回～） 早稲田大学
助成の内容
渡航費、滞在・研究費、住居費など日本での研究に必要な経費を負担します。 研究期間は、長期（12ヶ月）と短期（6ヶ月）が選択できます。 年間の招聘研究者数は10～15人の予定です。

応募について
応募資格
日本語・日本語教育・日本文学・日本文化に関する研究を行う海外の研究者   ＊優れた研究業績を有する大学の教授、准教授、助教授　およびこれらに相当する研究職歴を有する者。
日本語で研究・交流を遂行するのに十分な日本語能力を有すること。
日本以外に在住し、日本以外の国籍を有する者。
（ただし、日本以外の国におおむね１０年以上在住し、当該国の学会などで活躍している日本国籍の研究者を含む）
招聘期間中継続して日本に滞在することが可能であること。
過去に他機関の日本招聘研究プログラム等で助成を受けた方も応募可能です。
